Sit, Down, Relax, Enjoy. Make Time For A Cup OF Green Tea

Sit Down, Relax, Enjoy. Make Time For A Cup Of Green Tea

The popularity of green tea has grown. Green tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant with freshly harvested leaves that have not yet been fermented, which influences taste and aroma of the leaves. There are a variety of green teas available from around the world such as Japan (Sencha, Matcha, the most popular) and China (Gunpowder Pilo Chun), Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The types of Green tea are classified based on the taste, antioxidant properties and variance in caffeine levels.

Green tea processing varies. Leaves are quickly steamed in Japan or dry heated in China after harvesting to prevent oxidation. This process preserves the vibrant green color, natural antioxidants, amino acids, polyphenols, which may all provide many health benefits.

Green tea contains natural compounds such as catechins (antioxidant, reduces oxidative stress), l-theanine (amino acid that promotes calmness), caffeine(a modest amount which may boost energy, increase concentration), flavonoids & polyphenols (fight free radicals), vitamins & minerals ( vitamin C, vitamin B2, folic acid, manganese, potassium).

We all need an additional boost in vitamins and minerals. So the next time you need to increase your concentration, or boost your energy, sit down and enjoy a cup of green tea.

And as always, Smell, Taste, Enjoy. Be Mindful of the Food You Eat.
