Eczema- Finding Relief

Eczema- Finding relief

I battled and lived with eczema for many years. The inflamed, itchy, red, cracked, patches on my face, arms, legs were a constant reminder of the allergies I was living with on a daily basis. It took many years, but finally my eczema went away.

Luckily there are many natural ways to heal and soothe your eczema flare ups. Below are my top five recommendation I used as a child to get relief during mt eczema flare ups.

1. Vitamin D
Increase your sun exposure by 15-25 mins per day. A new study has shown how exposure to sunlight alleviates symptoms of eczema by triggering the release of a compound in the skin that dampens inflammation. Take a Vitamin D supplement 2000-5000 mg daily.

2. Omega 3 Fatty
Include an Omega 3 fish oil supplement 1000-4000 mg daily. Eat salmon, herring, sardines, and drink cod liver oil. These oils contain anti-inflammatory properties and can speed healing.

3. Probiotics
To treat and prevent eczema flare-ups, a probiotic supplement can build your immune system & lessen inflammation. Also include probiotic rich foods such as kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, miso, yogourt, kombucha, traditional buttermilk- the leftover liquid from making butter.

4. Moisturizing
Dry, flaky, itchy skin can be both a cause & symptom of eczema. Try moisturizing your skin morning and night with a hypoallergenic fragrance free moisturizer which can provide relief. In a bath try moisturizing your skin with coconut oil. The oil contains antibacterial, anti fungal & antimicrobial properties that can provide relief from excess itchiness, cracked skin, & redness.
